Emotional Intelligence Coaching

In today’s fast-paced competitive work environments and fluctuating economic conditions, companies and individuals are searching for effective tools to help them manage, adapt, and lead.

effective tools to help manage, adapt, and lead.

Not so long ago, the saying was, “leave your emotions at the door” when entering the workplace. In today’s workplace, emotions, specifically Emotional Intelligence (EQ), is critical to your success. However, knowing what emotional intelligence is and knowing how to use it to improve your life are two very different things.

Emotional Intelligence is needed by executives and leaders to assist them in navigating, motivating, and coaching others through the multi-generational and multi-cultural work environment. EQ is the single biggest predictor of performance in the workplace and the strongest driver of leadership and personal excellence.

Emotional Intelligence is no longer a “nice to have.” It is now a “must have” as increasing your EQ can truly help you improve in all areas of leadership, in all aspects of communication, negotiation, and objection handling, as well as important motivational abilities.

The Executive Development Coach provides Emotional Intelligence Coaching to individuals and teams. We help our clients to understand what Emotional Intelligence is, as EQ affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. We coach clients for a greater understanding of the four core skills that pair up under two primary competencies: personal competence and social competence.

Personal competence is comprised of your self-awareness and self-management skills, which focus on you, and on Social competence, which consists of your social awareness and relationship management skills. Social competence is your ability to understand other people’s moods, behavior, and motives in order to improve the quality of your relationships.

Emotionally Intelligent leaders bring out the best in their teams. Emotions are interwoven into our every interaction and in everything we do. It is the “something” in each of us that is a bit intangible. It affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. Simply stated, Emotional Intelligence is the ability to identify and manage our own emotions as well as the emotions of others.

Emotions influence how we react to challenges and opportunities and determine whether or not we collaborate to resolve conflict. Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions and to handle interpersonal relationships justly and empathetically.

It is the key to both personal and professional Success.

Emotional Intelligence accounts for nearly 90 percent of what sets high performers apart from peers with similar skills and knowledge. According to research by organizational psychologist Tasha Eurich, 95 percent of people think they’re self-aware, but only 10 to 15 percent actually are, and that can pose problems for your employees. Working with colleagues who aren’t self-aware can cut a team’s success in half and lead to increased stress and decreased motivation.

However, Managers and Leaders who show more empathy towards direct reports are viewed as better performers. Building Emotional Intelligence requires increasing self-awareness, strong, active listening skills, and a willingness to learn and recognize what pushes our buttons and the buttons of others and how to handle diverse situations.

Our Emotional Intelligence Training is a half-day (four-hour) in-person program that develops these four core competencies:

1. Self-awareness

2. Self-management

3. Social awareness

4. Relationship management

During the Emotional Intelligence training session, participants will be introduced to these four Emotional Intelligence skills. They will evaluate their current level of Emotional Intelligence, identify their communication strengths and weaknesses, and understand how their emotions affect others – and how other people’s emotions affect them.
