Performance Coaching is utilized to assist people to achieve their very best. It is particularly useful for long-range career or life planning, for dealing with career change points, for making changes to improve performance or behavior, and for dealing with major life setbacks.
Performance Coaching is a process where a Coach facilitates the development and action planning of the coach in order that the individual can bring about changes in their performance and life.
There are two main types of performance coaching:
Improve Employee Performance Coaching – This coaching often provides positive feedback about the employee’s contributions. At the same time, this coaching brings the performance issues to the person’s attention and assists him/her to correct them. The goal is to work with the person to understand and solve performance problems and improve the work of the person, the team, and the department.
Key Contributor Performance Coaching – This coaching is used to assist management who are effective contributors to improve and become even more effective contributors. This assists the manager in increasing their performance and results for the company.
Working with a Performance Coach will help the person to:
Identify roadblocks to achieving desired and expected results
Set practical, achievable goals
Develop new skills
Identify and maximize strengths
Develop tools to overcome weaknesses and areas to be improved
Develop a greater understanding of wants, needs, and desires
Address and overcome negative behaviors and thought processes that create roadblocks
